It is important to note that several of the species presented have not yet impacted New Brunswick’s lakes, but have become problematic in New England states, and other parts of the Maritimes. Ever-increasing global trade and travel may provide an abundance of possible pathways for the intentional and accidental introduction of new organisms in our region. Climate change will likely also facilitate the establishment of new arrivals, some of which will have considerable ecological, economic, and social impacts.
